Basically, if you watch the video you’ll see how I apply the Loreal Magic Smooth Souffle foundation and my thoughts on it.  I’ll just quickly recap my thoughts here …

I love this foundation.  Period.  It blends like a dream and looks completely natural with almost a powdery finish.  It is a medium to full coverage foundation and the staying power easily tops more than 10 hours before I need a touch up.  The price is the only downside, $14 dollars for .67 oz of product.  For a drugstore foundation, its amazing but in my opinion should be cheaper.

No More Waity, Katie
Butter London’s “No More Waity, Katie”

I have to start off this post by saying its been about a week since I’ve blogged and I need to apologize.  I’m sorry its been so long! But I have a few blog posts brewing and I figured I’d start off with whats on my nails! I have the best boyfriend in the entire world and while he was over my house browsing for stuff on Amazon, he saw my wish list on there and he bought me Butter London’s “No More Waity, Katie”!  At first, I wasn’t that interested in this color, but then I started experimenting with Butter London polishes and am absolutely in love with the formula, and I knew I had to have this limited edition polish in my collection.  Honestly, even after I got the bottle I still wasn’t super excited about the actual color, I was more excited that I had this polish in my collection for display purposes.  I definitely changed my mind after I put this beauty on.

Deborah Lippmann “Across the Universe”

I had a job interview yesterday so I had my nails painted a very boring yet professional pale pink jelly-esque color.  I like it, obviously because I own it, but it is so not me and I bought it just for job interviews.  I know that I need to enter the professional world and I can’t be wearing crazy colors on my nails because it has the tendency to send the wrong message.  So after my job interview was over, I promptly came home and changed my nail polish color to one of my favorites in my collection.  Deborah Lippmann “Across the Universe” is a new add to my collection, and when I say new I mean a few months ago, but it has made it to my top 5 favorite polishes of all time, and thats saying alot!!  This navy jelly with bright blue and green glitter looks so much brighter and more vibrant in person and is just so unique and special I can’t help but brag about my nails to friends.

Upon browsing around tumblr today, I noticed a rather interesting post tagged under nail polish.  OPI seems to be partnering up with almost everyone this year! First it was Katy Perry and Serena Williams, then it was Pirates of the Caribbean, and now alcohol??  I’m not quite sure if alcohol coincides with the OPI nail polish brand and my inner public relations and advertising bachelors degree is talking back about all the negative image outcomes or public backlash a pairing like this could lead to.  But I have to say also as a current bartender and nail polish maniac, this is actually kind of cool.  My brain is conflicted over mixing alcohol with nail polish but it doesn’t change the fact that now OPI is releasing colors that are going to become some of the hardest colors to find!  Although I do like this top shelf triple sec and all the fun drinks I create with it, I don’t know if this is a match made in heaven.

A few weeks ago I got my Zoya Earth Day order! If you go through my blog then you’ll see that I have already worn 2 of these colors but I finally posted the video and wasn’t planning on doing a blog post.  At the end of the video I said I would put up pictures on my blog and just didn’t edit it out so I figured I should probably do that.  If you aren’t familiar with what the Zoya Earth Day Promotion is, it runs for one week in April right around the time of earth day to promote recycling.  Basically, you go on Zoya’s website and you can pick out a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 colors and Zoya will take away the cost of the polish and all you have to pay for is shipping.  The catch? Once you get your polish in the mail, you have to send Zoya back the same amount of polishes you got for polishes that you don’t want anymore.  Hence, the recycling part.  Give away your old polish you don’t like and get new polish for free!

overcoat shades

Promotional Picture of Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat Shades

When I heard that Sally Hansen was coming out with crackle shades I had to roll my eyes a little bit. I have stated before that I am not the biggest fan of this trend, but I still have this naive thought that if a different company releases crackles I might actually like the formula or the effect in comparison to the others I have tried.  So, even though I was standing at the check out thinking I was probably wasting my money, I bought 2 Sally Hansen Crackle shades. Space Cadet

Orly "Space Cadet"

I have never been so obsessed to find a nail polish color than I was when Orly “Space Cadet” first came out.  No joke, I went to probably 10 to 12 stores trying to find this color when Orly released it last year in early fall.  I would call to see if stores had gotten more shipments, I obsessively checked all the nail polish e-tailors I know and every single place was sold out.  It seemed like I would never have this beauty in my collection.  I hunted for a good month and a half before I finally gave up and told myself very unconvincingly that another company will release something similar (they did go figure! hard candy “beadle”).  I had given up hope completely and upon walking into Ulta one day around christmas I found it! It was on the bottom shelf tucked way in the back of some random hair conditioner section.  I’m pretty positive that some girl had gone and hid it hoping to come back to the store a few days later to buy it and then just forgot about it because it was the most random place for a lone limited edition polish.

It seems like animals are always in trend.  It doesn’t matter what season or what year but animals or animal print are always in magazines and being seen on runways … it seems like owls have been in style for the last 8 years and aren’t really going anywhere.  I have always sort of tolerated the animal trends.  Sometimes I will rock a pair of leopard print flats, or have a tshirt with a tiger on it, but I’ve never been one to wear the huge custome pieces of jewelry that are the size of an actual puppy.  I’m all for a little print, especially in the summer, but I’m thinking this animal trend has gone a little bit too far.  On a recent trip to a local jewelry store I explored this booming trend and of course took pictures to share with you guys!

Lilacism

Essie "Lilacism"

I had been eyeing Essie’s “Lilacism” for quite some time and in my last trip to Ulta I finally picked it up.  This light creme purple is just so classic and one of the few colors I feel like can still straddle the edge of being classic and modern at the same time.  This is my first light purple, which is rather surprising because I have almost every color, and the reason I had to have this color is because it is just such a cult favorite.  Every girl who raves about nail polish either picks this color or OPI’s “Done Out in Deco” as their favorite lavendar shades.  The OPI is more muted, like a dusty lilac, while Essie is more vibrant.

Nina

Zoya "Nina"

Keeping on my Zoya streak, I opted for another new polish Zoya “Nina”!  This was another one of the polishes that I purchased during their Earth Day promotion and I didn’treally want this color, and wasn’t particularly drawn to it, but I don’t own a single brown in my entire collection.  I figured it was time I added a milk chocolate brown to my ever growing polish collection.
