Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday! Sorry for the weird yellow glare on my cuticles. Like I said in another post like this but on Thursdays I don’t really see sunlight. I leave the house at 6 am and don’t get home until after 8 pm. And I don’t have the proper lighting in my home to take color accurate pictures with artificial light.But I figured you can’t really make black look different, regardless of the lighting. I always blog about how much I love white nails and I have multiple different bottles of white in my collection (and now have another one, thank you Anca!). But I don’t have too many blacks. I picked this up last year because I was about to run out of my favorite matte black, Sephora by OPI “Whats A Tire Jack?”. Now, its my go-to black for any manicure! But I don’t know how many times I’ve given this polish its individual attention, so here we go!
Zoya “Raven” is a black with a very slight silver microshimmer. It looks like a black creme until the light its it and then you can see the slight shimmer. It makes it a little bit different from your average black.
The formula on this polish is really nice and easy to work with. The Zoya brush is a little bit on the smaller side, but I personally like that when I’m applying darker colors like this. It makes it much easier to control and ensure I’m not getting black polish all over my cuticles. It is a little bit on the thin side, but it is nicely pigmented. Its completely opaque in 2 coats and dries really fast as well. Overall, this is a great staple for any collection.

This looks lovely! I have two black polishes that I use a lot, OPI’s Black Onyx and CG’s Liquid Leather.
I’d like to try Raven mostly because of the slightly shimmer. That sounds interesting
oooo i heard liquid leather is amazing! and i heard the orly one is a great black polish as well. raven is great, no complaints at all, and the slight shimmer just makes me feel better about myself when i have 5 black nail polishes because i can say that its slightly different lol
