Nail of the Day! China Glaze’s “Peachy Keen” and “Lightning Bolt”

China Glaze’s “Peachy Keen” and crackle “Lightning Bolt”

I’ve been thinking about doing a video comparing the 3 more readily available crackle polishes in the US, which are OPI, China Glaze and Sally Hansen.  If you’re a reader of my blog, you know that I am not into the crackle thing that much unless I find a combo that is like magic on my nails … and this manicure just changed my mind about China Glaze’s white crackle “Lightning Bolt”.  I first painted my nails China Glaze’s “Peachy Keen”, since oranges are really in style this season and I was feeling something bright but then the bottle of the white crackle started calling out to me from my desk.  I first just put it on an accent nail and loved the effect so much that I did them all.  This magical color combination of orange and white was exactly what I was in the mood for.  If you look through other nail of the day posts, I tried this out with Essie’s “Lilacism” and it ruined the manicure.  This combo looks like an orange creamsicle to me! I just feel so summery and it makes me want an orange julius or a popsicle or something.  This just screams orange creamsicle to me and I don’t really know why!

Formula and Application: China Glaze is a 3-Free company and the bottle and brush aren’t much to brag about.  They are average in every sense of the world … the brush is average size and stiffness and the cap is average in length and gradually tapers a little towards the end.  The consistency on “peachy keen” is really good, as its a creme finish that is opaque in 2 coats and dries relatively fast.  The consistency on the white crackle is on the thiner and more watery side, so you have to make sure you get a lot of product on that brush because you can’t put on multiple layers.  It dries to a matte finish, so its imparative to use a top coat over top the crackle.
I was so sad to take this manicure off but I put it on for a reason, and thats because I’m in the process of making a video and a blog post comparing all my crackle polish brands.  So I needed to remove it but this is definitely going back on my nails sometime in the very near future!  What do you guys think?
