Stila All Over Shimmer Duo Review

In the winter I have a tendency to wear a lot more makeup.  I think that’s true for a lot of girls but I tend to go for fuller coverage foundations, darker eye shadows, contouring, blush and highlighting.  In the last few months I have been reaching for highlighters more and more and it occurred to me that I don’t really have a highlighter.  The only “real” highlighter I own is from the MAC Wonder Woman collection which is a bronzer, blush and highlighter in one compact and I have almost hit pan on the highlighter.  The other products I use for a highlighter are eye shadows.  So I felt like it was time for me to buy a highlighter and while browsing through Sephora, and being utterly confused because there are a million and two products in that store, I ended up grabbing the Stila All Over Shimmer Duo in “Kitten” because it had two different shades of a highlighter.

Although this duo is called “Kitten”, which to me implies that there is more than one different shade, the All Over Shimmer Duo is only available in one shade.

Sorry for the shadow.  This picture looked good on my camera and then once I got it on my computer I noticed it wasn’t the best but I had already started using the product.  Being a duo, there are naturally two sides.  One side is a very pale pinkish toned shimmer, very close to the Stila “Kitten”, which is probably their best selling shade because they have an eye shadow lip gloss, lip glaze, eye liner and smudge pot in this color.  The other color is a little darker, more of a bronze gold shimmer.  The darker color gives more of that sun-kissed glow while the lighter color gives more of a traditional highlight.

The swatch on the left is the light pink and the swatch on the right is the darker gold.  I like both shades and I think this is a universally appealing duo.  These swatches were applied kind of heavily and I have since worn both shade and they don’t show up this drastically shimmery on your face.  The look when you apply them to your cheek bones is more of a subtle glow and when it catches the light it makes your cheeks bones look beautiful.

Overall, I like both shades.  The light pinkish champagne color is great for the winter when my skin is more pale and the gold is better in the summer for that sun-kissed look.  Although my swatches make it look heavy, its much more subtle in real life.  No complaints about this product.
