I felt like this picture needed to be full size so you guys can see the glitter in this manicure better. I’ve heard of Jelly Sandwich manicures forever! I’m pretty sure that Jelly Sandwich is the official term for this time of manicure, but someone please correct me if I’m mistaken. For all of you who don’t know, a Jelly Sandwich manicure is when you play around with layering polishes and end up layering a jelly finish polish over a layer of glitter. I have since tried this with another polish besides a jelly finish (just a really sheer shimmer) and it worked but not as well.
I don’t know what made me try a Jelly Sandwich manicure because I’ve never done one before. I’ve always loved the way they looked but kind of scared to try it out for myself. Honestly, jelly finishes are one of my favorite finishes but I don’t own that many! I was surprised when I was looking around my collection. So I just grabbed one of my favorite all time red polishes, Sephora by OPI “Mr. Right Now.” This is my go to polish for the classic red nail because its a jelly finish so its ultra glossy and looks like candy on your nails. Also its a little darker so it changes the classic red manicure to a sexy red manicure. Normally I need three coats to get this opaque, but in this manicure I did things a little differently. I’ve featured that polish a few times on my blog but if you want to see what it looks like on its own, you can go here!
(I didn’t even realize that my ring finger was messy until writing this post, sorry guys!). I put down one coat of Mr. Right Now, let it dry, and then put down one coat of Essie “A Cut Above”. I recently posted about this polish, and needless to say I’m obsessed with this glitter. If you want to see how A Cut Above looks, you can go here! But one coat of A Cut Above, let that dry, and then put a very thin coat of Mr. Right Now over top of the glitter. It turns it into the best, glowy, vampy red glitter ever! I don’t own China Glaze Ruby Pumps (thats the name right?), but for some reason this reminds me of that. I was so in love that I didn’t take this off for 3 days, which is saying a lot for me. This was the manicure I wore for my second final, which was my criminal law final and for some reason red nails seemed really appropriate for talking about murder and conspiracy!
