Sephora Mattifying Foundation Pressed Powder Review

I haven’t done a makeup review in a while.  I went on a project pan back in February, so I haven’t been able to feature new products.  I contemplated going into my makeup collection to feature products that I’ve never shown you guys before, but that doesn’t seem like ethical blogging.  So now makeup posts are few and far between, but I did pick up a few new things that I needed so I can give you guys a little break from all the nail polish posts.  The first thing I picked up, the Sephora Mattifying Foundation Pressed Powder.

I have to say, I did not pick this up because of a review or because I really wanted to.  I ran out of powder the morning I went to the mall and knew I needed to pick up powder.  I decided at the mall that I didn’t want to spend the gas on driving to a drugstore that wasn’t anywhere close to where I was.  So instead, I just decided to spend an extra $10 on powder from Sephora.  The reason I picked this one up … It was the cheapest in the entire store.

The Sephora Mattifying Foundation Pressed Powder is a typical pressed powder foundation and is nice and pigmented.  What I like is that it is really easy to apply and gives a nice amount of coverage. I don’t have to use a lot to get a really nice, matte look.  And right now since I am using tinted moisturizers and BB creams, it provides a little extra coverage.  So those days that I’m not entirely confident with my skin, this gives me that extra boost of confidence.  I have also worn this on its own over a regular moisturizer and it is really nice as well.  It evens out my skin tone nicely, and since it is so pigmented I don’t use a lot of the product, making me think it will last longer than other powders I’ve used.  What I don’t like is that it doesn’t stay on my skin very long.  I find my forehead is getting oilier faster than it was when I was using my Wet ‘n Wild.  But I hesitate even reporting that because it is now summer and I’m sweating more.

Overall, it is a nice product and I don’t have any complaints, except for the price.  I like the fact that I can wear it alone and have nice coverage but wear it with a tinted moisturizer and have a medium coverage.  Also, I like the fact that I don”t have to use a lot of the product so I feel like it will last me longer.

Price: $20

Availability: All sephora stores and online

What do you guys think? Have you ever tried any of the Sephora brand powders?

  1. What are BB creams? I’ve been seeing them mentioned and I have read about it, but I am still not completely sure what they are! What do they do for your skin? And would you suggest switching from foundation to tinted moisturizers and BB cream? Lots of questions, sorry!

    • they are basically supposed to be like a 5 in one product. if you use the ones from korea they are supposed to fix hyperpigmentation in your skin, help fight acne, help with wrinkles, some control oil, they moisturize, and they are a little more pigmented than a tinted moisturizer. BB creams give a medium coverage and are just supposed to be better for your skin. and honestly i love bb creams but its all a personal preference with what you put on your face. tinted moisturizers are really sheer most of the time so if you have perfect skin you can use on of those, if you have problem skin then bb creams might be a good way to go or if you want more coverage you can go for a foundation. i use all three depending on the day, what look i want, and what i’m in the mood for. hopefully some of your questions were answered and please don’t hesitate to ask more! i love it when people ask questions

      • Thank you so much! I will definitely do some research into BB creams and hopefully find one that I can use! Do you recommend any specific kind?!
