I’m still on a kick of trying out manicures that I was in love with last summer. Since I’m trying not to buy any new polishes until the fall collections come out, I am trying to rediscover all my old favorites. I have to admit, my weakness is fall, winter and holiday collections of nail polish so I’m starting to save my money now. So I decided to try out another manicure I was obsessed with last summer. But I hate taking pictures in artificial light. This polish looks so much better in natural light but I wore this manicure while I was working full time and still going to class. This was almost 3 days before my final so I was making note cards like a crazy person. Its funny, you can totally see blue pen on the tip of my middle finger and that is from making 150 plus note cards. Because of my crazy study habits, I had to take this picture at night in artificial light and it totally changes the color.
Essie “Haute as Hello” is a super bright orange with a little bit pink. It has the slightest hint of pink but I swear these pictures don’t do this polish justice. It is really really bright and dries to a matte finish because its almost neon. This is about as bright as I’m comfortable going. The downside of this polish is that the formula kind of sucks. This is 3 coats and I had a hard time getting it even. It was streaky and blotchy going on with a ton of cuticle drag. With the thin brush and horrible cuticle drag it honestly would be better with 4 thin coats. I normally do 2 thin and by the time I get to the 3rd, I’m so ready to be done fussing with this polish that I put a super super thick 3rd coat. You can even see some the cuticle drag slightly after the 3rd thick coat. Dry time is good but the formula is such a problem that I had to talk about it. Then I added Sephora by OPI “Traffic Stopper Copper” which is one of my favorite chunky glitters. I love copper in general and this looks amazing with the bright orange. Definitely one of my favorite manicures, I just need the patience to deal with the Essie polish.
What do you guys think? Do any of you have Haute as Hello and do you have the same problems that I do with the formula?
I had the same issue with Essie’s Action – a bright neon orange from this spring. I had to use a 4th coat on my pedi and it was the same awful satin formule 😦
sucks doesn’t it! i wish the colors weren’t so pretty so then i can just stop struggling with the formula. but i keep getting sucked in cuz they’re so fun and goregous
LOL!!!! They are so pretty. But I really don’t know if it’s worth all the hassle lol!
I just received 3 new jellies from Megan Miller. Let’s see if these are any better! 😉
It looks great!
awww thanks!
I just rediscovered Haute as Hello in my collection…… It is such a gorgeous color
i love it and it s a great summer color. i just wish it was like new essie formulas. do you have the same problems with the formula?
This is really cute!
I have the Haute as Hello, but I hadn’t actually used it yet… your pics look fantastic!
