Black Cat Lacquer “Let Them Eat Cake”

Let me start this post off by saying that I have been an etsy addict the last few weeks.  I don’t know what has gotten into me, but I have been obsessed with finding new Indie brands to try out. I’ve been browsing etsy stores, looking for new glitters to add to my collection.  I absolutely love supporting fellow bloggers who have turned into nail entrepreneurs but I’m super picky about some of the Indie polishes I have purchased in the past.  In no way am I criticizing any nail polish maker out there because its all a matter of personal preference, but sometimes I like to keep things a little bit simple.  Which is why I went absolutely crazy when I found Black Cat Lacquer on etsy and I immediately began drooling over this polish.

Black Cat Lacquer is an Indie brand that is made by a woman named Sabrina out of California.  I first saw this polish and immediately put it into my cart but purposely logged off etsy so I wouldn’t buy it.  I wanted half of the polishes in her store and knew my bank account would be screaming at me if I gave in.  I couldn’t get this polish out of my mind after that night so I logged on the next night, determined to buy it.  Go figure, it was sold out.  So I obsessed and kept checking back and was super shocked that it was back in stock really quickly!

First thing I have to rave about is her shipping.  I ordered this on a Sunday night, I got the shipping confirmation the next morning, and got the polish the next day.  I couldn’t believe that she overnighted me this polish!  It was shipped from California and I live on the East Coast.  So it made it from one side of the country to the other in a day. She charged $3 for shipping, which was totally reasonable considering that I got it ridiculously fast.

Second thing I have to rave about it the color.  I absolutely love the pastel and rainbow glitter!  Black Cat Lacquer “Let Them Eat Cake” is a clear based glitter with light pink, light blue, light green and holographic rainbow glitter.  It was very reminiscent of Deborah Lippmann “Glitter in the Air” except it has green in it too.  For some reason the color combination reminds me of the perfect baby shower color scheme if you don’t know the sex of the baby.  Does that sound odd?  Or maybe Easter Eggs?

I also think the density of the glitter is nice as well.  I thought it was going to be a lot denser judging from the swatches she has online, but I was presently surprised that I liked that the glitter was a little bit more sparse on the nail.  It was a glitter attack and just made for a nice topping.  This is one coat over 2 coats of Juleps “Kate”.  I feel like this is a good amount of glitter that if I wanted something more subtle I could just wear one coat or I could layer 2 and it would be a little bit more prominent.

The formula was pretty good.  It wasn’t too thick and the dry time was really nice.  Normally with chunky glitters I find that you have to wait a little longer between coats but this one seemed to try pretty quickly.

Overall, I’m very pleasantly pleased and this isn’t going to help my wallet.  Have any of you guys heard of Black Cat Lacquers? Or tried any of Sabrina’s polishes? What do you guys think?
