This weekend is not my weekend. I’m not going to go into huge details but I have had a rough couple of days (well since Wednesday). Today was my first little ray of sunshine with me and my boyfriend going out with a really fun group of people to a football game. The game was a great pick-me-up, especially since my beloved and heartbreaking Cleveland Browns finally won 1 game! Yep, thats right, almost half way through the season and we finally won our first game this year! 1-5 baby, Super Bowl better watch out! Anyways, to damper my awesome day, we got caught in a downpour while walking home and I ended up breaking a nail on my non-swatching hand. This was a break so bad that it bled. I haven’t broken a nail like this since May, so needless to say I’m a little traumatized. So lets go to my favorite indie brand to cheer me up!
Hare Polish “Midsummer’s Midnight” was the polish that I wanted the most when Hare Polish went on sale about a month ago. Midsummer’s Midnight is a black jelly polish with pink and green round medium glitter, blue and purple square glitter, and silver microglitter. Yes, this is a little bit a glitter bomb but not so extreme where I’m turned off. I think all the colors kind of come together to form a mardi gras type of color palette. Plus, the black base tones down all the different colors and turns it into more of 80s graffiti-esque polish. Also, if you have been following me for a while, then you know that I’m not into any shape of glitter besides round or hexagonal. But the square pieces in here blend so well with the other glitters and the black base that I don’t even notice that they’re square.
I had to see what it looked like with a flash! Since its bright colored glitter in a dark base, I had to know what it would look like with a flash. This is where you get a lot more of the colors to come out!
Formula wise, this is one of the more sheer Hare Polishes I’ve tried. Ok, this is the sheerest one. This was 3 coats, and the 3rd coat was pretty thick. I think I’ll have to wear this over black the next time I wear it because when i first applied it, basically all that showed up on my nail was the glitter and the base looked like a very sheer charcoal grey. If the polish didn’t have so much glitter, it would probably be a 4 or 5 coater. Dry time was really good because it is so packed with glitter, but I needed 2 coats of top coat to get this polish smooth. It was a little bit gritty in texture.
Honestly, I think this polish is gorgeous but it is definitely a layering polish. I’m a little bummed about that, but its a very nice edition to my collection. And I have to include one big picture because I think this polish is so stunning and I want you guys to be able to see this awesome-ness.
What do you guys think? Do you have any Hare Polishes? What are your favorite indie brands? Do you have any polishes that are really sheer but you still love?
