“This is Halloween” Nail Art Challenge: Bats!

We are at the half way point with this one!! 5 mani’s before this one and 5 more after this!

I’m going to be really honest at the moment.  This manicure kind of exemplifies why I hate nail art and why I don’t do it.  I’m a little bit of a perfectionist and to me this manicure just looks awful.  I’ve lost the daylight so I can’t re-do the challenge because I don’t have the proper indoor lighting to pull this off.  So, I’m posting something that I’m rather embarrassed of and definitely not happy about showing.  Please be kind in the comments!

Today’s challenge was bats.  I like bats, but this wasn’t a day where I was really inspired.  So I looked up some tutorials on Youtube.  I found one that was a similar concept but used a gradient effect, nail art tools, and crows instead of bats.  But I took the idea of putting a tree in the design.

Please be kind!

This is exactly why I don’t do nail art because I fail miserably at free handing designs.  I should probably invest in some stamping plates but honestly after this I will probably just stick to the things that I know I can do.  I might not be the best at drawing cool shapes but at least I can color inside the lines, and that is going to be reasoning for just doing regular paint jobs for a while.

The polishes I used were OPI “My Boyfriend Scales Walls” and Zoya “Raven.” I used a toothpick to try to draw on the trees and the bats.  I was going for a sillouette kind of look and just failed miserably.

Oh well, you live and you learn.  The next challenge is on Monday and its a gradient manicure.  Yes! Something I can do!

What do you guys think? Are you guys any good at free-hand nail art?

  1. You’re being too hard on yourself! For the tools you used, this is a really good nail art manicure. I am terrible at gradient nails, can’t wait to see that post! Maybe I’ll learn something!! 🙂
