This post hopefully will be short and sweet. I have been extremely busy for the last few days and it doesn’t seem like my schedule will lighten up for another few days. So I apologize in advance if I don’t get back to your tweets or comments right away! But I still am keeping up on this challenge and wanted to post my gradient!
I had so many thoughts on what I would do for this challenge. I think the first and most obvious choice was do to a candy corn gradient. I even grabbed the polishes to do that manicure and then at the last second I decided to play with one of the glitter pots I got from Julep this month. I remembered a nail tutorial I saw on Youtube (I couldn’t find it to link it) where the girl used cosmetic glitter and a fan brush to make a glitter gradient manicure. This is my attempt!
How I did this! I applied 2 coats of OPI “Vodka and Caviar”, my favorite brighter red. Right after I did the second coat on a nail I dipped the tip in the pot of black glitter Then with an eye shadow brush, I dipped that into the glitter and tapped it down the nail to create the gradient. I did each nail, one at a time, to create this look.
It was one of the easiest manicures and looks more tricky than it is. One thing that was a total accident but I love how it turned out is the matte look to the glitter. I know you aren’t supposed to put a top coat on to these loose glitter manicures but for some reason I wanted to try it. Well, I lost all the sparkle of the glitter and it turned into a gritty and dirty look. I like that with the brighter red because it looks creepier and more halloween-like.
What do you guys think? Do you like the look of the matte glitter? What would you do for a gradient mani?
Really cool! Like this one 🙂 Would like to try this
do you have loose glitter? i saw a tutorial on youtube that used cosmetic glitter and it worked too
I love this! The matte look just makes it.
thanks! i think the matte look makes it better too. it didn’t look as good all sparkly
