Illamasqua “Bacterium”

First off, I want to apologize for the EXTREMELY long post below.  I had such an awful experience with a nail polish company today that I needed to blog about it and get it off my chest.  Sometimes blogging while angry isn’t a good thing, because it means very long drawn out posts.  So I figured I would give you guys a post with less writing!

IMG_6366Illamasqua “Bacterium” is a dark beige duochrome that shimmers to a silvery blue color.  I thought that this color shimmered to more of a green shade when I saw other pictures of this polish on the Illamasqua website, but it turned out to be much more blue.  The color is really really unique, I’ve never seen a color like this before.  It’s a weird color, but it totally works for me and fits with my personality.  It’s a nude with an edge.

The formula on this was ok, but not as great as the other Illamasquas I’ve tried.  It took only 2 coats to get completely opaque but I could notice slight streaking while applying it.  So my OCD kicked in and I would basically go over each nail with like 50 brush strokes to get it perfect.  But the strokes became less noticeable as the polish dried.  The dry time was a little slower s well.

Overall, I love the weirdness of the color and the opacity but didn’t have the same awesome formula as other Illamasqua polishes I’ve tried.

What are your thoughts? What are your favorite Illamasqua polishes? What are your favorite nudes?

  1. I only have 1 Illamasqua polish (Venous) and I have yet to wear it – lol! That color is gorgeous on you, but I’m sorry it was such a pain to apply! For some reason, it reminds me of Zoya’s Pasha which is one of my favorite nudes. I also love butter LONDON’s Cuppa and Zoya’s Jacqueline and Shay. Oh…and not sure if this counts, but Orly’s Nite Owl is a recent fave! ♥

  2. The color is gorgeous *O* Unfortunately I don’t tried Illamasque nail polishes as of yet but only heard great things about them…probably try them in the future though~
