OPI “Solitaire” Liquid Sand

IMG_6862I really am loving this textured trend! I haven’t loved a trend this much since matte nails were first in trend 3 or 4 years ago.  The crackle thing lasted for about 5 minutes with me and I only bought 2 (both of which I don’t own anymore).  The magnetic trend was really cool but I found that I messed up the manicure by touching my nail with the magnet about 90% of the time.  And I never even got my hands on any “spotted” polishes like the OPI Spotted or Layla Bubble effect.

But I really do love the textured trend! I have gathered a pretty nice collection so far.  But when I saw that the OPI Bond Girls Liquid Sand collection had a white textured polish, I literally started drooling.  You guys know that I LOVE white nails, especially in the summer.  So I knew I had to have this polish!

IMG_6863OPI “Solitaire” is a white frost with silver glitter. While it is a dreaded frost finish, the gritty textured finish makes it so it isn’t a streaky mess.  And the silver glitter makes it a little bit more complex than a white textured polish.  I don’t know if its just because I’ve been wearing a lot of white-out looking whites, but this is a little bit “soft” for me at the moment.  Its soft and muted and not as bright on the nails as I was hoping it would be.  But its still gorgeous!

IMG_6861The formula on this polish isn’t the best.  It takes about 3 coats to become fully opaque, which kind of surprised me.  And while it doesn’t take as long as the Zoya Pixie Dust polishes, it isn’t that fast drying.  Also, it is really easy to apply in the first coat, it gets a little bit thick and the brush gets a little bit coated and flat on the third coat.  Overall, I like this polish but I’m not as in love as I thought I would be.  I think I’m just in the mood for some super bright, in your face, bleach type whites.

What do you guys think? Do any of you have this polish? What is your favorite textured polish?

  1. I have only tried the Jesse’s Girl Julie G Gumdrops…they’re cute. I found the manicure didn’t last as long because the bumpy texture was grabbing onto dresses at work and ruining the whole thing! I have really really wanted this OPI Solitaire color though. I think it’d be a great accent nail!

    • aww that sucks! i didn’t pick up any of the gumdrops because it seems like a lot of companies came out with similar colors at the same time. but if you pick up solitaire let me know how you like it!

    • awww thanks! i totally agree with you, its an easy way to create a cool looking manicure without the effort. i think i’ll like it better when i’m not craving really strong and bright colors. its really subtly pretty
