Illamasqua “Kink”

IMG_6501Happy Sunday!  If you aren’t from the States, then you may not be aware of just how crazy some Americans can get about football (American football, obviously).   Sundays aren’t a day of rest, but a day for junk food, panic attacks, yelling at the TV and tears of either sadness or joy.  My beloved Cleveland Browns normally lead to tears, self-loathing, and anger because we rarely win, but I still love this sport!

I am typing this as me and my fiance have 2 football games on and a second computer set up just to have a running tally of our fantasy football scores.  Many of us get into our fantasy teams more than our home teams!  I am in a fantasy league with my immediate family and this week me and my brother are pitted against each other.  Needless to say, we may not speak to each other for a while after tomorrow night.  And now onto the polish!

IMG_6503Illamasqua “Kink” is a dark forest green creme that dries to what Illamasqua has coined as a “rubberized” finish.  Basically, it dries to a semi-matte finish.  I have mixed feelings about the finish of this polish.  While I absolutely LOVE the color and I love matte nails, this half way point between matte and shiny is kind of odd to me.

IMG_6499The formula on this polish was pretty good! It was opaque in 2 coats and had a great consistency.  It was really easy to control and I didn’t even have to do any clean up.   The only negative that I can say is that it had a rather long dry time, which isn’t really normal for matte finish polishes.  I think this polish is really unique but at the same time I want to either add a shiny top coat or a matte top coat to take it fully in one direction or the other.  Since green is my favorite color to wear, I know I’ll get a lot of use out of this one!

What do you guys think? What are your favorite Illamasqua polishes?

  1. Gorgeous color! I agree about that rubbery finish, I have a couple butter LONDONs that have the same finish and it’s just weird! lol I always use a top coat, so it’s not a huge deal. 🙂

  2. You could use this polish for a christmas mani! You could try to put the china glaze one on it but i forgot the damn name but i think you got it aswell lol
