‘Tis the season! I am absolutely OBSESSED with Halloween! I mean, unhealthily obsessed. I spend every free minute that I have watching horror movies, I change the ringtone of my phone, and I spend all my money on haunted houses. And I buy waaayyy too many Halloween polishes! This is one of many that is to come from both mainstream nail polish brands and indie brands.
First up, the first of a few of the new China Glaze Monster’s Ball colors!
China Glaze “Howl You Doing” is a deep dark purple jelly base with blue glitters, purple glitters and orange flakes. As you can see from my swatches, this polish is dark! So dark that I was having a hard time picking up some of the beautiful subtle details of this polish! I love dark polish and this one is no exception. I love the combination of glitters and flakes in this one because it makes it more interesting than your traditional dark purple.
The formula on this polish was spot on! This is just 2 coats and its this opaque. The polish applies like a dream and dries just as quickly. The only negative I will say is that this polish dries to a semi-matte finish. I had to do 2 coats of top coat to get the shine that you see in the pictures. That isn’t a big turn off for me, but may be to some so I figured I would mention it.
And while I love this polish, I think I may have something really similar in my collection already. So be on the lookout for a comparison post between this polish and Orly “Fowl Play.”
What do you guys think? Did you pick up any polishes from the Monster’s Ball collection?
