Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday! Its been since August that I’ve done one of these posts, and it feels good to break out some of my old polishes again! Inspired by the Instagram hashtag, every Thursday I like to showcase an older polish in my collection that hasn’t gotten a lot of love from me in recent months. It reminds me to reuse the polishes that I have in my collection and not just buy a polish and wear it once.
And I figured I should come back with a bang, and showcase one of my all time favorite polishes!
OPI “Lincoln Park After Dark” is a super super dark purple, so dark that it looks black. This is such a classic shade and it was my first every OPI that I ever purchased. And this is the only OPI that I’ve ever had to repurchase, because I used up an entire bottle! That is how much I love this shade, and I think it should be a staple in everyone’s collection, whether you’re an avid collector or a novice.
The formula on this polish is amazing. It is completely opaque in just 2 coats and really easy to control. The consistency is amazing, the dry time is amazing, and it’s just overall amazing. The only negative is that while it dries really glossy, it tends to dull with the slightest smudge. Overall, if you don’t own this, you need to!
What do you guys think? What was your first OPI?
That’s indeed a classic black. My first Opi.. the mini set of the dutch LE.
thats awesome! i didn’t get any from the dutch collection (hangs head in shame)
Love the idea of a throwback Thursday for nail polishes!
awww thanks!
No problem – I just might have to copy that at some point. I’ve got way too many oldies but goodies in my collection, and they could use some love!
go ahead! i stole it from instagram lol
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery… And so is stealing? Lol
One of the best! 🙂 I love it.
I can’t remember what my *first* OPI was, but I’m Not Really a Waitress was definitely among them… and it shows in my fill line! Luckily, easily replaced. I swatched it here too: http://ohmyswatch.wordpress.com/2013/10/23/opi-im-not-really-a-waitress/
I love busting out the oldies. I feel like sometimes they get no love.
same here! i always end up wearing all my new ones, especially since i have a shopping problem lately lol its fun to see the old ones and to see if i still like them. the first time i did one of these posts i tried an oldie and i hate it now!
When I first discovered OPI I just bought any I could find on sale. I have a bunch of streaky, frosty, taupes that I look at and say “REALLY?! That’s what you got?” Sheesh.
hahaha i did the same thing when i was first starting out too! my very first throwback thursday post was one of those shades that i used to love
I adore OPI darks! I am trying to work out what my first OPI polish was, which is ridiculous because it really wasn’t that long ago that I first started collecting (hoarding) polish. I know the first ones I paid for personally were I Vant To Be A Lonestar and I Don’t Give A Rotterdam which are both kind of at the other end of the scale from this polish – light and shimmery. I think I am going to add this to my wishlist, along side Midnight in Moscow.
midnight in moscow is nice, but if you can’t find it, sinful colors “rich in heart” is a dupe. i had both and you cannot tell them apart on the nail.
I love it!
I think it was WAH’s polish of the month for Halloween :))
Such a beauty.
aww thanks! what are some classic shades that you love to wear?
Haha, none really ; ) I don’t wear classics (when it comes to colour family) such as pinks, reds or nudes at all, but I do love black, and more specifically, I tried OPI Suzi Says Da and that was surprisingly wearable. I tend to gravitate more towards blues and greens, not a classics girl : )
But I’m thinking about getting Lincoln, or maybe even *gasp* Tickle Me Francey if we’re going classical ; ))
tickle my francey is on my list too!
My first OPI? I can’t remember and i probaly sold it by now but we all just love OPI ! 😀
hahaha i need to sell a lot of mine too!
My polish obsession is only under a year but the collection has multiplied fast. I recently just got this one but haven’t used it yet as it’s summer here. My first OPI La positively hot. Still one of my fav pinks
when you try it let me know how you like it! i actually wore this on my birthday one year which is in august, so summer for me! it looks amazing year round
I’ve never actually worn black. Can’t quite believe it considering the amount I have.
you should try it! its surprising how wearing black makes you feel edger. and i find that it isn’t as intense as i think it will be. if you ever try it out, let me know! and thanks for commenting!
