CND Vinylux “Black Pool” Review!

Happy Monday! I mentioned in one of my recent videos that I was going to be attending the Toronto IMATS this year.  For all of you who aren’t familiar with IMATS, it is the International Makeup Artist Trade Show and is in major cities all around the world.  I’ve never been to any IMATS but when my dear friend Zenorah first brought up going to the Toronto IMATS together, I jumped at the chance.  Months later, that became a reality!

Me and my fiance drove up to Canada for a long weekend and we got to spend the entire day Saturday at IMATS and hanging out with Zenorah.  She is the sweetest, most gorgeous person (inside and out) and I was so lucky to have met her!  I could gush about her forever, but in an effort to get on to the polish, I’ll just say it was like hanging out with an old friend.  My fiance and I got back last night, so I was too wiped out to blog.  But now onto the polish! Day 1

About a month ago I was contacted by a new nail polish e-tailer called Beyond PolishBeyond Polish sells regular nail polish as well as a huge range of gel nail polish.  They carry all the big name brands like OPI, China Glaze, Essie, CND and more for an EXTREMELY reasonably price (aka China Glaze for $3.50 a bottle!).

In that email they asked if I had ever tried out the new CND Vinylux polishes.  I had never even heard of them so onto the internet I went! I discovered that CND Vinylux polishes are “supposed” weekly polishes.  The idea is that you apply these without a base coat and they’re supposed to last for a week without chipping.  I had to put them to the test!

Day 1: The polish was really shiny and really opaque.  This is just 2 coats on a bare nail, but I did add a coat of Seche Vite.  These polishes work the best with the CND top coat to go with it, but I don’t have that.  So just know that the polish may last longer with the intended top coat.

Day 2: As you can see, there is NO tip wear! I was very shocked that it looked exactly the same as day 1!

Day 3: as you can see, there was a little bit of tip wear on day 3.  Also, there was a little bit of dulling with the shine.  But all of this was pretty minimal so I didn’t mind it too much.

Day 4: slightly more tip wear than day 3 and a little more dulling. But again, nothing too serious that I felt the need to remove the polish.

Day 5: the tip wear on day 5 was a little too much for me to handle! It was visible on every nail, but the index and middle fingers were killing me! There was also a lot more dulling and I noticed a lot of scratches and nicks in the polish.

I was going to try to keep it on for day 6, but when I woke up the morning of day 6 there was a HUGE chip in one of my nails.  Granted the chip was caused by my peeling nails rather than the polish, but the chip coupled with the tip wear was too much for me.  So I’m ruling this as almost a weekly polish, unless you don’t mind tip wear! Or if you’re in a profession where you aren’t typing on a computer a lot of using your hands.

Overall, this was a great polish! The formula was amazing with a near perfect consistency and a really fast dry time.  This was opaque in 2 coats, which is nice for a really rich black shade. I think this polish would be perfect for vacation or for people who don’t change their nail polish often!

I’m in love!! I wish I had picked up more shades because they were on major sale at IMATS. But they’re also really reasonably priced on Beyond Polish so I’ll probably stock up on more in my next Beyond Polish order! I already have my Gwen Stefani OPI polishes picked out since they have them available for pre-order right now!

What do you guys think? Have you ever tried any of the CND Vinylux polishes?
