L’Oreal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Infinite Fuchsia!

IMG_7694I’m giving these L’Oreal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stains another shot.  But why the hell does a company have to give a product such a long name? Is that really necessary to have 5 words to describe a stain? I think not.

I tried out these Wet Wine Stains about 6 months ago and had my gripes.   I wasn’t a fan of the colors on my lips at all, but I loved the longevity and staining power.  I tried two of the lighter shades and rarely wear them. But now that I’m really into dark lip colors, I figured I should give these another chance!

IMG_7695The packaging on this product is really nice. It has a smaller opening, which helps keep excess product off of the applicator.  The applicator is a doe foot sponge applicator, which a small hole in the center (which I still don’t understand).

IMG_7696The color is a typical fuchsia shade that has a creme finish.

IMG_7697And wow does this thing stain! I had this on the back of my hand for a total of 20 seconds, when I put it on, snapped the picture and then wiped it off right away.  And this is what was left over after just a few seconds.

If you’ve never tried one of these products before, or one of the YSL glossy stains, how it works is that you apply 3 coats of this product on your lips.  The first coat stains, the second coat seals in the color, and the third coat gives it the shine!

What I like: I like how these feel on my lips and how well they stain.  I also like seeing how the color really deepens and develops with the extra coats.  I really like this as just 1 coat over a lipstick!

What I don’t like:  This is much darker by the 3rd coat and almost too dark for me.  While it doesn’t look that dark in the pictures, in real life it is really really dark.  Also, I find that when I wear this on its own it kind of migrates to the center of my lips.  It also wears unevenly, so some spots are really dark and others are much lighter.

Overall, this didn’t change my mind about the Wet Shine Stains and if anything, it made my opinion of them even worse.  However, I LOVE wearing this as a gloss over a lipstick! It deepens whatever lipstick I’m wearing and makes it last so much longer. I think that is how I’m going to have to wear these lip products from now on, but I’ve given up wearing them normally.

  1. Not to be all ‘single white female’ but even before I saw this post, I ordered it from ebay! I found this listing where you could pick 3 shades and this is one of them. Now I see your lip swatches… SO glad I did! Beautiful on you, Holly!

  2. These aren’t too bad, but I don’t think any of them are the actual shade om the packaging. They are always darker/more red which bugs me. At least that’s the case with the ones I have. Using it over a lipstick is an awesome idea!

  3. Does it feather? The long name thing reminds me of Revlon’s balm stain -_- long names = don’t remember, bad idea. This lip product looks really great on you, I love how vibrant it is but still dark 🙂 Gotta love defined lips!

  4. It’s such a pretty color. I’ve always struggled to find a nice shade of these lip products..it seemed they are always too “blah”. This one is gorgeous. I’ll write it down and cross my fingers to find it in stores soon! 😀

  5. I don’t have any of the stains…but I am ALL for putting that over a lipstick. That’s something I might try because I do like that color (even a little darker isn’t so bad)

    • i wore it over revlon just bitten kissable balm stain (super long name too) in smitten and that was really nice! if you have one of those that might be something to try out. and thanks for commenting!

  6. Wow, this looks great on you! I don’t have luck with these stains. I’ve been disappointed in both L’Oreal and Maybelline. I think I need to get a darker shade!
