OPI “All I Want For Christmas (is OPI)”

IMG_7850I have a confession … I have a major love affair with red nail polish.  I don’t wear it often, but whenever I do I feel sexy, confident and classic.  I think that everyone woman needs to find her signature red, a red that makes her feel like a total sex-pot.

One of my signature reds was OPI “Vodka and Caviar” but like all amazing products, it was discontinued.  I’ve been saving my bottle for special occasions and currently on the hunt for my next signature red.  And that hunt has brought me to the new OPI Holiday Collection!

IMG_7851OPI “All I Want For Christmas (is OPI)” is a cherry red creme.  The picture directly above shows it more true to color than the other pictures.  For some reason, my camera just couldn’t handle this color and made it look warmer and brighter.  This color is kind of a shape shifter because in the light its a true cherry creme, but inside it looks like a brick red! Definitely more interesting than the bottle would suggest.

IMG_7853The formula on this polish was nice and opaque, needing just 2 coats, but a little hard to control.  I find that OPI has a tendency to be a little on the thin side, so with the wide brush I normally make a mess.  With a red, that means staining on my cuticles. This was no exception. But its so close to my beloved Vodka and Caviar that I don’t really mind!

This is another polish from Beyond Polish.   They carry all the big name brands like OPI, China Glaze, Essie, CND and more for an EXTREMELY reasonably price.  They even have the entire Mariah Carey collection for cheaper than what you would find in store!

What do you guys think? What is your signature red?

  1. I never really liked red polish – I thought it was a bit… middle aged but then the seasons changed and now I am obsessed with red polish in all its various permutations. At the moment I’m wearing OPI First Date At The Golden Date (another thinner formula red) which feels a little bit like a vintage red to me – silver screen siren appropriate. I found application much easier if I did the first coat with an underloaded brush and then just applied normally on top of that, for some reason this minimized the cuticle flooding. I haven’t started buying from the Mariah Collection yet although I am fairly sure I want Warm Me Up and now I kind of want this one…. although I have been eyeing up Red Lights Ahead…where? for a while. So many choices. So many shades.

  2. A proper red is very hard to find. some are too dark, while some have that awful orange tinge. The best one I found is LOOK beauty, its a proper scarlet red and has an amazing gloss for only £5! It’s like prostitute red stilletto red, A la Pretty Woman.

I’d have to look at the OPI one in the flesh as yours look a tad on the darker side to me. nice gloss though!
