Have I ever mentioned that I’m totally jealous of you girls across the pond? There are some amazing products available in the UK, including Sleek Cosmetics. Last time I was in the UK I picked up a Sleek palette and totally fell in love with the quality of the eye shadows. I have a ton more on my wishlist but when I saw swatches of this palette, I knew I had to have it for the fall and winter.
I also really love the Sleek palette packaging. I think that the packaging is some of the best for palettes, as it is small, compact and sturdy. The palette is plastic but has a huge mirror and clicks closed, and stays closed. The packaging is just sleek, for lack of a better word.
Just look at those shades! How perfect are they for a colorful smokey eye? There are 3 glitter shades, 5 metallics, 3 shimmers and 1 matte shade. The palette also comes with the quintessential sponge applicator, that I readily discarded. Also, there is a plastic overlay that gives us the names of the shades.
All of the names are inspired by places around the world. And all swatches are alone, not over primer.
Pretty in Paris: is a silver metallic. This one isn’t that pigmented, but I think would be really pigmented if patted on the lid over a primer.
Meet in Madrid: is a warm toned gold metallic. Also, not super pigmented, but would be great with a primer and for an all over lid color. This would be so nice as an all over lid color, as a light wash of color.
Court in Cannes: is a tarnished cool toned gold metallic, almost a cool taupe bronze. This is a total shape shifter! In the pan, its really cool toned. On my skin its very warm toned. However, depending on what shadows you pair with it, it can be cool toned or warm toned. Gorgeous shade!
Lust in LA: is a taupe metallic. I have so many shades like this, but can never have enough. Its really nice and pigmented and very buttery.
Romance in Rome: is an indigo shimmer. It is a little bit more purple than my swatch shows. This color isn’t that pigmented, but a nice addition to the palette.
Propose in Prague: is a warm pink brown matte. I love these types of shades! I will buy this shade over and over and never get sick of it. This is one of my favorites in the palette and very much needed with all the shimmers and metallics shadows. It is the perfect transition shade.
A Vow in Venice: is a warm purple shimmer. This is a nice shade, no complaints really, but its really similar to Marry in Monte Carlo, which just blew me away. So I tend not to reach for this shade that much.
Marry in Monte Carlo: is a red toned purple metallic. This is so pigmented and buttery, and really does catch the light amazingly. It goes really well with green eyes and brown eyes as well.
Honeymoon in Hollywood: is a wine shimmer with microglitter. This shade blew me away! The microglitter doesn’t transfer that well onto the eyes or the swatch, but is absolutely amazing! This is another star of the palette! Really pigmented too, this is just 1 swipe!
Bliss in Barcelona: is a darker indigo shimmer. This one is also not that pigmented. I don’t know if it is just the indigo color, but it doesn’t work that well. I think it might work over a colored base.
Forever in Florence: is a dark purple charcoal shimmer with microglitter. Like Honeymoon in Hollywood, the microglitter doesn’t transfer onto the eyes or the swatch, but it is a great day shade. Very pigmented and very buttery. This would work amazingly with Honeymoon in Hollywood as a smokey eye.
Love in London: is a black with microglitter. Also, the micrglitter doesn’t transfer, but this is such a great black shade that I don’t care. Its really pigmented and very black. I have many black shades that are closer to a charcoal, but this is one of the darker blacks that I own.
Overall, I really like this palette, but there were some duds, namely Bliss in Barcelona and Romance in Rome. There were some standouts too, like Propose in Prague, Court in Cannes, Honeymoon in Hollywood, Forever in Florence and Love in London. If I could complain about one thing is that I wish there were other matte shades. But the microglitter shades make up for it.
What do you guys think? What shades are your favorites?
