Happy Wednesday! Its been practically a week since I finished my finals, and I have to ask where has the time gone?? It seems like winter break is going by way to fast because next week is Christmas, the week after is New Years and the day after New Years I leave for vacation in Mexico. I’m already bummed that this vacation is almost over!
But aside from me complaining, I have another new polish for a winter collection. I don’t feature Essie on here too often, but I couldn’t stop myself when it came to the Essie Encrusted Treasures collection. I picked up two from the collection, this one and another that I’m actually wearing right now!
Essie “On A Silver Platter” is a silver and gold microglitter, with a gold shimmer and chunky indigo holographic glitter. There is a lot going on in this polish! In the bottle, it almost looks like a polish straight from the Deborah Lippmann Mermaids Collection. On the nail it fell really flat for me.
It gives the appearance of being really bumpy and gritty. The indigo glitters clump together and don’t lay flat on the nail and the gold shimmer takes over the glitter and makes it look really messy. This also is two coats of top coat and it still was bumpy on the nail. The formula was thick and a little hard to apply. But the dry time was really nice. I’m not as big of a fan as I hoped it out be, but I know a lot of other people like this polish. So don’t let my negative review sway you if you’re thinking of picking this up.
What do you guys think? Did you get any polishes from the Encrusted Treasures?
What is the white polish on your pinky and index finger??
its a white topped with a holographic top coat, which i’ll be reviewing soon! i had a huge break and waiting for my nails to grow out
Huh. I hadn’t seen those but it looks really pretty, actually! (I am not too much of an Essie fan either….)
yay! thank god i’m not the only one who doesn’t love essie. i loved the other polish i got from that collection, but this one wasn’t my cup of tea
Thanks for your candid opinion on this one, Miss H — for me it’s been one of those where you’re pretty sure it would disappoint but for whatever reason you cannot look away… the chaotic prettiness draws my eye in photos, but golden shimmer looks like death on me mostly and I’d rather not deal with application annoyances.
haha i agree! its like a car accident that you can’t stop looking at. thanks for commenting liz!
It kinda reminds me of Loreli’s Tiara from China Glaze. It’s pretty, but it sounds like the formula wasn’t very good and that it was a top coat “eater”. Oh well…can’t love ’em all, right?! lol
yeah there always are some duds out there, and thats totally ok. do you know if formula x for sephora is cruelty free? i’m looking to pick up a few in the new year but don’t know yet
I love the collection, its gorgeous! I need that shade!! I only got Belguria or however you spell it and Lots of Lux. I regret this! lol
your swatches of belugaria and lots of lux are amazing! makes me want to get them
Trust me they are worth having in your nail polish collection!!
I felt the same. LOVED it in the bottle but you really need several coats to get the same effect it has in the bottle. But on another note what is the white/ silvery holographic color on the other nails? I LOVE that!
thanks so much girl! its a white polish with a holographic top coat, that i’m going to review later! i majorly broke a nail the other day so i’m waiting for my nails to grow out before i swatch new colors
Hi! Hope you had a great Christmas…just wondering, what’s that color on the other two nails? It’s beautiful! It looks like a light grey with a blueish tint. Thanks!
i hope you had a great christmas too! its a white polish with a holographic top coat over top! i’m going to be reviewing that top coat soon but one of my nails broke so i’m waiting for them to grow out
