Happy New Years everyone! This post is going to be a little different for me, as this won’t be about nail polish or makeup, or include any pictures. Last year I did a little recap of 2012 for my New Year’s post, and thought that I should continue that and do a little recap of 2013!
2013 was a year about ups and downs! I got engaged to my best friend after dating for over three years. He is my everything and honestly I couldn’t imagine my life without him. I also said goodbye to my dog Nugget in 2013. We rescued Nugget 4 years ago, after he lived a life chained to a tree. His previous owners left him chained up 24/7 and eventually moved, leaving him behind still chained up. But you never would have known that he lived most of his life being neglected and abused because he was the sweetest dog and I still miss him every day.
2013 also was one of the hardest years for me when it comes to school. My spring semester was the hardest semester I’ve ever gone through, as I took 7 classes when a normal law student takes 4 or 5. I survived, but not without a lot of tears and a lot of worry. I also had some tears shed over the fact that this past August was my last first day of school ever! I’ve been in school for 20 out of the 26 years of my life, and to have it be over this spring is so scary to me. I’m not ready to be a grown up.
I looked back at my New Years post from last year, to see what my resolutions were and if I accomplished any. I had 7 resolutions and its a little bittersweet to re-read these …
- Lose another 40-50 pounds
- Blog every day (or almost! as close to every day as I can)
- Turn my free blog into a .com and learn more about the whole blogging “thing”
- Reach 10,000 subscribers on YouTube
- Move out of my loft apartment into a bigger place
- Combine my YouTube and Blog more.
- Get a legal job
Did I lose 40-50 pounds? No. Pre-Christmas I was down 25 pounds but I think I’m back up a good 5-10 pounds because of the sugar cookies, cheesecake, alcohol and general over eating. I plan on getting right back on the diet once I’m back from vacation and hopefully I’ll be able to reach my weight loss goals this year.
Did I blog every day? No I didn’t. But I did put up 434 posts! So technically that’s more than a post a day, but I would normally spam your inboxes a few times a week. I did turn my blog into a .com and did that right in the beginning of the year. Have I learned more about blogging? Yes and no. I think my photos are getting better, but I’m not where I would like to be in terms of my content and photo quality.
Did I reach 10,000 subscribers on YouTube? No, not even close! As of today, I’m over 5,300 but I can’t be more thankful for every single one of those 5,300 people! This time last year I was almost at 2,000 so I’ve more than doubled my audience in just a year. Also, I started a second channel that has 500 (ish) subscribers! So I’m pretty proud of what I’ve accomplished on YouTube this year.
Did I move out of my apartment? Nope, still here. We are busting at the seems and just keep talking of moving but when we tried to move we looked for about 4 months and couldn’t find a place big enough in our price point. Did I integrate my YouTube and blog more? Eh, yes and no. I was good in the beginning but lately that’s fallen by the wayside. And lastly, did I get a legal job? Nope, not a paying one at least.
And that brings me to 2014. What would I like to see happen in 2014? A lot of the same things that I wanted in 2013, but maybe on a larger scale. So here are my resolutions …
- Lose 60 pounds
- Plan my wedding (I haven’t even started lol)
- Graduate from law school with my JD and Masters and fingers crossed, pass the bar exam
- Get a JOB!
- Go self-hosted with my blog (how sad is this … I paid for my self-hosted site on Host Gator in SEPTEMBER! I haven’t moved anything over yet)
- Reach 20,000 subscribers on YouTube on my beauty channel and 2,000 on my vlog channel. Oh, and continuing my vlog channel
- Improve my photos on my blog
- Blog every day, or as close to it as I can.
- Move out of my apartment and find a larger place.
That is a lot! But those are my real resolutions, and are half about my “real” life and half about my online life. My online life is probably my biggest accomplishment so I want to say THANK YOU! Even if no one reads this long ass message, thank you for all of you who comment, who like my posts and those who visit! It means more than you know because if I didn’t have those who support me, I wouldn’t be doing this at all. I wish you guys all the best and hope you have a great New Year!
What are your resolutions for 2013?
