Press SampleHappy Tuesday! I hope that everyone is staying safe and warm today. I was glued to the weather channel this morning, as I was contemplating whether I wanted to work from home today. When I heard the words “negative twenty” and “windchill” I decided quickly that I didn’t want to make the 30 minute walk in. But I also heard that while the Midwest and the North were going through arctic temperatures, the South was suffering through snow and ice. So I hope that everyone in the US is safe and warm!
In honor of the crappiest winter in the last few years, I’m wearing one of the darkest shades in my collection and a new one from the OPI Gwen Stefani collection. I’m not ashamed to say that she is one of my girl crushes and Tragic Kingdom was my first CD ever! So I’m glad that I got my hands on a few of these polishes!
OPI “4 in the Morning” is a black satin finish polish. OPI has termed this finish as a satin, since it has a little bit of a silver shimmer in with the black. But, its very reminiscent of the Zoya Velvet finishes and the OPI Suede finishes. Whatever OPI decides to call this, matte nails are back and this is one of just a few with this finish in the past 2 collections that OPI has released.
Just like the wizard in Wizard of Oz, pay not attention to the dent in my middle finger. I wore this for a day and right before I was going to take a picture, I bumped my hand on the door and it created a huge chip! So I quickly painted over my nail to take pictures, which is a blogging no-no that I should have learned back in blogging 101.
The formula on this polish was great. This was completely opaque in 2 coats and dried really quickly. But just like other matte finish polishes, you can’t wear a top coat because it ruins the finish. And matte finish polishes chip so fast! Oh well, its gorgeous and the last bottle of matte black that I had I used up completely.
This is another polish from Beyond Polish. Beyond Polish is a new nail E-tailor that carries all the big name brands like OPI, China Glaze, Essie, CND, as well as a ton of gel nail polishes.
What do you guys think? Did any of you get any shades from the Gwen Stefani collection?
