Great ready for my post picture heavy review ever! I got this 4-piece gift set in my stocking this past Christmas. I’ve never tried anything from Bare Minerals, mostly because I was scared of the mess of a loose blush and shadow. I’ve always heard great things about the brand so I was excited to try them out for the first time.
The set comes with 4 of Bare Minerals’ best sellers, which are some great every day products.
Once you take the sleeve off of the plastic bag, which tells you which products are inside, you see that all the products are nicely wrapped in tissue paper.
The 4 products inside are the Queen Tiffany eyeshadow, Golden Gate blush, Flawless Definition mascara and Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Maverick. I’m assuming that the blush and eyeshadow are both full size but the lip gloss and mascara are travel size.
First up … the Golden Gate blush.
The product comes with one of those protective stickers over the holes, since this is a loose product.
Golden Gate is a warm brick red with a slight bit of shimmer. All I can say is that the color looked a little scary in the container but it is stunning on! It looks like you walked outside in the winter air and you got that natural redness to your cheeks.
Next up … Queen Tiffany shadow.
Same swatch as above, but blended out.
Queen Tiffany is an ultra shimmery taupe metallic. It almost is like taupe colored diamonds on your eyes. But beware, this is SUPER shimmery and I think best for night. If you love shimmer, you could wear it lightly across the lid during the day. Also, because its a loose product, be prepared for fallout and I would suggest applying this before your foundation. Also, you can apply this wet to get an even more intense metallic look.
Next … Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Maverick
Maverick is a natural pinky brown gloss with gold shimmer. In the tube, this looks really dark and almost “grandma” like. On my skin, it still looks dark and grandma like. But once its on your lips, it transforms and looks like a beautiful neutral lip! I am loving this! Another thing about this gloss that I love is the texture and taste. It has a cool minty taste that tingles the lips. It isn’t sticky at all but isn’t too slippery either. I think this gloss would appeal to a ton of different people.
Lastly … the Flawless Definition mascara.
What I love about this mascara is that it does a great job of lengthening and curling my lashes. It gives a little bit of volume but not a ton. Also, it is really dark and does a great job of emphasizing my lashes. What I’m not crazy about is the brush shape and the small amount of clumping that I get. The brush is a little awkward with the tapered end and can cause clumping or excess product on the inner parts of my eye.
Overall, I think that the whole kit is a great value for what you get! Since I got this as a gift, I don’t know how much it costs, but I’m assuming that its $30 or less since its a $42 value. I really like everything that came in the set! I wore the blush almost all of January and I just finished off the mascara this morning. The shadow is something I save for night time since it is so shimmery, but still is gorgeous.
This kit has opened my eyes to a whole new brand of makeup! I now have a ton of Bare Minerals products to try out that I’ve missed out on for years, since I was scared to try anything “loose.”
What do you guys think? What are your favorite Bare Minerals products?
I like Bare Minerals. The voluminizing mascara is good too! 🙂
i’ll have to look at that the next time i’m in ulta. i want to check out more of their marvelous moxie lip glosses too. have you tried those? which shades are your favorites?
I don’t have any Marvelous Moxie glosses, but have a couple of glosses from them that were released in other kits, which I adore!
Welcome to Bare Minerals! It’s my favorite brand. As a matter of fact, the original foundation is the only one my skin will tolerate. Always use a small amount (the eye shadows will probably last forever!) and be sure to tap off the excess. Enjoy!
i’ve always wanted to try the bare minerals foundation. i’ll have to give it a chance now! thanks for commenting heidi
this post was very well done, I’m drooling over that lip gloss!
